Customer Assistance Residential Energy Support Program - CARES
CARES Discount
Are you finding yourself struggling to make ends meet? UES's CARES Discount Program provides qualifying customers up to 30 percent off their residential energy costs each month.
To be eligible for this discount, you must:
- Have the UES account in your name
- Be a UES residential customer
- Have a combined household income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level (See chart below.)

Gas Discounts
The first 100 therms or less per month will be discounted November through April by 15 cents per therm, for a total discount of up to $15 per month.
CARES/Medical Life-support Discount for Electric Customers
A Medical Life-support Discount is available to households that meet the financial eligibility guidelines for the CARES Program and where certain medical situations exist.

Medical Life-support Eligibility
To be eligible for the CARES Low Income Life-support Program, an electric service customer must submit to UES annual verification by the physician to remain eligible for the program beyond one year. Please take a copy of the Physician Certification form to your physician for completion.
