Budget Billing
The Budget Billing plan divides your yearly estimated energy costs into 12 equal monthly payments. By averaging the highest energy usage months with the lowest, you reduce the impact of higher summer bills if you're an electric customer, or higher winter bills if you're a gas customer.
Figuring Your Monthly Payment
The Budget Billing program eliminates seasonal swings in your utility bill by allowing you to pay a fixed monthly amount based on your estimated annual energy use.
Budget Billing Adjustments
To avoid overpayment or underpayment during the year, UES will monitor your account and may periodically adjust the Budget Billing payment. You will not receive advance notice of these adjustments. It is extremely important that you pay your Budget Billing payment monthly, regardless of actual charges billed.
Factors That Can Change Your Payment
Several factors can cause your Budget Billing monthly payment to change:
- Weather: Your energy usage typically fluctuates with the seasons and can even vary month to month.
- Energy Prices: Prices may increase due to higher energy costs.
- Energy Use Patterns: If you improve the energy efficiency of your home, your monthly usage can be lower than expected. For example, you can improve home energy efficiency by replacing furnace and air conditioning filters monthly, weatherproofing your home and installing programmable thermostats.
It's Easy to Qualify for Budget Billing
This program has been set up as a courtesy to UES customers. The only requirement is that you pay your bill on time. You may choose to leave Budget Billing at any time. If you leave the program for any reason, the entire balance is due. If you are already a Budget Billing customer, you will automatically continue, and you do not need to complete this form.
