UniSource Energy Services (UES) is committed to the safe operation of the pipelines used to deliver natural gas to our customers. By raising public awareness of the potential safety hazards associated with these facilities, we hope to reduce the likelihood and potential impact of pipeline emergencies and accidental releases of natural gas.

This Web site offers safety information for public officials, emergency workers, excavators and contractors as well as for members of the general public, including:
  • The role pipelines play in transporting energy in your community. (For help identifying pipelines in your area, visit the National Pipeline Mapping System at www.npms.phmsa.dot.gov.)
  • The hazards associated with natural gas leaks.
  • How to recognize and respond to a pipeline emergency.
  • Simple steps that can help you avoid damaging pipeline systems.
  • The potential impacts of encroaching on pipeline rights-of-way.
This site was developed in compliance with the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act (PSIA) of 2002 and the revised regulatory requirements of 49 CFR Parts 192, 195 and the American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice (RP) 1162. The information posted here applies to both transmission and local distribution pipelines.
