Serving Our Community

Dear UES Customers,

UES leadership is committed to serving the needs of others

Our commitment to service goes beyond providing safe, reliable power to our community. We also serve by sharing our time and our talents with others.

UES is an active community partner, dedicated to improving the quality of life for our customers, our employees and everyone who calls Arizona home. We contribute to the community through renewable energy, energy efficiency, economic development, volunteer service and more.

The people who work for this great company are diverse and dedicated. We see Arizona in the same light, and we want this community's future to shine as brightly as possible.

I hope you enjoy this overview of our company's efforts to make this community a better place to live and work.

Paul Bonavia

CEO and President
UniSource Energy Services

Community Investment

In addition to providing safe, innovative, and reliable energy services, UniSource Energy Services (UES) is committed to generously investing in the communities where we work and serve.

UES employee-driven community service efforts have produced remarkable results. In 2010, UES employees joined their friends and family in contributing 14,600 hours to charitable efforts that benefited approximately 150 nonprofit groups. UES CAT program has won nationwide acclaim. In 2006, UniSource Energy received the National Corporate Advocate of the Year award from the National Child Welfare League. View a summary of UES community support.

In 2001, UES developed the Grants that Make a Difference (GTMD) program. The goal of GTMD is to encourage collaboration among local nonprofits and corporations to provide sustainable services, leveraging resources as effectively as possible. This competitive grants process is opened annually in the spring for nonprofit agencies that help people afflicted by homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, child abuse, and other social problems. Ten to fifteen agencies are awarded a grant ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to continue the programs that we believe create the most impact and reward within the community. See the guidelines and application process here.

Contributions

Community Action Team

UES' corporate volunteer program, the Community Action Team or CAT, is recognized as one of the most effective programs of its kind in the country.

UES employees are encouraged to devote their time to the causes closest to their hearts. One CAT volunteer might choose to pound nails for Habitat for Humanity, another might opt to serve on an agency's board of directors. UES supports these efforts with charitable funding to the agency and organizational support for volunteer projects.

UES is proud to be a mentor for area businesses starting employee volunteer programs.

UES' employee-driven community service efforts have produced remarkable results. In 2010, UES employees joined their friends and family in contributing 36,000 hours to charitable efforts that benefited approximately 150 non-profit groups in Tucson and the White Mountain area of eastern Arizona, where UES operates the Springerville Generating Station.

UES' CAT program has won nationwide acclaim. In 2004, the national Points of Light Foundation recognized UES with its Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs - making UES the first two time winner of the prestigious award. In 2006, UniSource Energy received the National Corporate Advocate of the Year award from the National Child Welfare League.
