From turkey dinners to twinkling lights, we’re sharing holiday warmth with our communities. Here are some of the ways we’re brightening the winter season.

Verde Valley

Employees in our Cottonwood office started giving early, collecting Thanksgiving recipe staples, such as stuffing, gravy and corn, throughout October. The food will be delivered to the Old Town Mission in time for its Thanksgiving meal distribution.

On Dec. 14, a decorated truck and float will travel in the Camp Verde Parade of Lights, a tradition that employees have enjoyed the past three years.

Nogales

Children will be treated to a shopping spree at JCPenney and Shoe Carnival to buy some dapper duds for winter weather, along with a McDonalds breakfast and food box. UniSource employees are connecting with the local Lions Club to provide the opportunity on Nov. 24.

In November, UniSource is coordinating with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona in Nogales to address food insecurity.

UniSource is supporting a food drive with Lincoln Elementary School’s Student Council to collect items for the Santa Cruz County Senior Center, which is next door. We’re also assembling and delivering Thanksgiving food boxes to children in Nogales Unified School District elementary schools.

Flagstaff

UniSource employees will be supporting Candy Cane Lane, a drive-through light display. They’ll also participate in Shop with a Cop, which pairs children with law enforcement officers for shopping sprees. Both events are put on by the Shadows Foundation, which supports families facing critical illnesses.

Mohave County

Toys and other presents will be collected during Toys for Tots drives in our Kingman and Lake Havasu City offices, spreading cheer to children in need in these communities.

Employees also will assemble food boxes for the holiday drive by the Elks Lodge in Kingman.

Prescott

UniSource employees are volunteering and making a financial donation to the Agape House’s annual holiday party. The organization provides long-term transitional housing to those in need of a permanent home.

Show Low

UniSource provides financial support for the annual Show Low Community Fast of Compassion, which raises money and awareness for food insecurity.

Our employees will also participate in the fast, which encourages participants to skip a meal between Nov 17-23  and donate the cost of one or more meals to a fund for local organizations that help feed local families.

A concluding Community Fast Celebration will be held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 24 at the Show Low School District Auditorium. Participants will hear how last year’s donations helped recipients’ lives.

UniSource volunteers are also spearheading a winter clothing drive for veterans, supporting Walking Down Ranch, a community with support services for veterans. Containers will be placed in the White Mountains community through Dec. 8.

All of UniSource’s philanthropic contributions come from corporate resources and are not recovered through customers’ rates. Learn more about our community support and volunteering.
