Ninety low-income customers in Lake Havasu City received $100 vouchers to help with utility bill relief over the holiday season, courtesy of UniSource Energy Services in partnership with community organizations.

UniSource donated $10,000 to fund the effort. The vouchers were distributed by the Havasu Community Health Foundation Food Bank, along with gifts and food boxes, in advance of the holidays to its clients with the greatest needs.

The River Cities United Way collaborated with the food bank.

“We wanted to help ease the burden of expenses during the holiday season by helping with bills. We really wanted to enhance the season for families so they could enjoy time with their loved ones,” said Penny Lyons, UniSource Community Customer Affairs Representative. She also volunteers for the River Cities United Way, serving as its board chair.

The food bank identified 90 clients most in need. Voucher recipients received instructions for working with the United Way to secure a bill credit from UniSource.

“It made a difference for these families, especially with the weather being cooler. Everyone has been so appreciative and said this couldn’t have been a better surprise for the holidays and end of the year,” said Ashley Wood, Chief Executive Officer of River Cities United Way. “We wanted them to go into 2025 with a positive impact and the best way to close out the year is with a warm wish.”
