Nogales Tap to Kantor Upgrade

In November 2017, The Arizona Corporation Commission reviewed and approved the CEC authorizing the Nogales Tap to Kantor project.

A second CEC was granted to Nogales Transmission authorizing the Nogales Interconnection Project, which would include the construction of a new 230 kV transmission line to the U.S./Mexico border. Plans for this separate project are on hold.

In September 2017, The Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee met to consider a joint application for Certificates of Environmental Compatibility authorizing the construction of the Nogales Tap to Kantor Upgrade Project, as well as the Nogales Interconnection Project.
